Purpose

For checking that structural loads are correctly defined and traceable.

Definition

  • Is every load traceable to its source — operating environment, loads report, or customer specification? — No load of unknown origin
  • Is the load magnitude, direction and distribution documented for each load case? — Complete specification
  • Are loads in the correct coordinate system? — Global vs local, and consistent
  • Are units confirmed for every load? — N, kN, MPa, kg, kg/m³
  • Are dynamic loads distinguished from static loads? — Different treatment
  • Are limit and ultimate load values identified for each case? — With safety factor
