Larson–Miller Parameter — Quick Reference

Quick reference for the Larson-Miller parameter — the time-temperature parameter for creep rupture extrapolation.

Key formula

LMP = T * (log10(t_r) + C)

where:
  LMP = Larson-Miller parameter [K]
  T = absolute temperature [K]
  t_r = rupture time [hours]
  C = Larson-Miller constant [-] (material-specific,
      typically ~20 for many metals)

The LMP allows rupture data at different temperatures
and times to be collapsed onto a single master curve.
The constant C is material-specific and must be
determined from test data — it is not universal.
