Allowables Review Checklist
Review prompts for design allowables — basis (A, B, S), statistical treatment, environmental knockdown and application to strength checks.
Purpose
For checking that design allowables are correct and correctly applied.
Basis
- Is the allowable basis appropriate — A-basis for single-load-path primary, B-basis for multiple-load-path? — Per certification requirement
- Is the allowable for the correct material, temper, product form, grain direction and temperature? — Each affects the value
- Is the allowable from MMPDS, certified test data or an approved equivalent? — Traceable source
- Are environmental knockdowns (hot/wet, cold,腐蚀) applied where the service environment requires? — Per standard
- Is the allowable used for the correct failure mode — tension, compression, shear, bearing? — Each has a different value
